Homework
Homework is a crucial part of your child's learning as it reinforces skills and concepts taught in the classroom. It is the expectation that ten minutes of homework are done per grade level, starting in second grade. For example, if your learner is in second grade they should be doing twenty minutes of homework, fourth grade would be doing forty minutes.
Many teachers require nightly reading homework. In forth grade, students are required to log 20 minutes of reading per night, or 80 minutes per week (Monday-Thursday). Even if your students classroom teacher doesn't assign reading homework every night, it is still a great idea for them to sit down and read a book! At only 20 minutes per night, students will read for a whopping 3,120 minutes by the time the school year ends. Remember, practice makes good readers! :)
